What is VectorCraft?

VectorCraft is a vector illustration app from the ArtCraft team. It copies the layout, tools, menus and shortcuts of Adobe Illustrator without using Adobe's code, so the Pen tool, Direct Selection, Pathfinder, Layers and Appearance panels sit where Illustrator users expect them.

It is open source under the MIT or Apache-2.0 license and free to use. The project went public on September 30, 2026, collected thousands of GitHub stars within days, and ships new releases several times a week.

The same code runs as a desktop app on Windows, macOS, Linux and FreeBSD and as a WebAssembly app in the browser. ArtCraft provides the web build as a zip to host yourself. This page hosts it for you, so you can use VectorCraft online without setting up a server.

What you can do in VectorCraft online

Every screenshot below comes from the web build hosted here, running in Chrome.

VectorCraft Direct Selection tool showing Bézier anchors and handles on a purple crescent, with the Anchor Point options in the Properties panel

Edit Bézier paths

The Direct Selection tool shows real anchors and handles. Pathfinder joins shapes or cuts one out of another; this crescent is one circle cut from another.

Open SVG, PDF and .ai files

Open an SVG, PDF, EPS, Affinity or PDF-compatible .ai file and edit it. This poster started as a plain SVG.

Export SVG, PDF and PNG

Save as .vectorcraft, export SVG or PNG, or use Save as PDF and Export for Screens. Files arrive as normal browser downloads.

How to use VectorCraft in your browser

You don't need an account. A laptop or desktop with a mouse works best.

01

Launch the app

Click Launch VectorCraft and give the first download a few seconds. Later visits start faster.

02

Start a file or open one

Pick a preset size such as A4 or Web 1920×1080, or choose Open for an SVG, PDF, PDF-compatible .ai or .vectorcraft file. File › Place adds a PNG or JPG.

03

Save and export

File › Save downloads a .vectorcraft file you can open again later. File › Export gives you SVG and PNG, and Save as PDF writes a PDF.
