HOW IT WORKS

How to convert SVG to PNG

It takes three steps, all on this page.

  1. 01

    Add your SVG

Drag SVG files onto the box or click Choose SVG files. Copied an icon's code from Figma, a code editor or an AI chat? Click Paste SVG code, or press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac) anywhere on the page.

  2. 02

Pick the format, size and background

PNG is selected by default. Choose 2x for most screens, 4x for large prints and slides, or type an exact width. Leave the background transparent, or switch to white or a color of your choice.

  3. 03

    Download your PNG

Each file converts as soon as you add it. Click Download next to it, or Download all to get one ZIP file. Change a setting and every file is redrawn to match.

WHAT YOU GET

SVG to PNG at the size you actually need

Blurry PNGs usually come from stretching a small PNG later. Here the SVG is drawn at the final size.

Drawn fresh at every size

The converter sets the SVG to your target size before drawing it. A 24 px icon at 4x is drawn at 96 px, not stretched from a small image. For a 1200 px wide banner, type 1200 and the height keeps the same shape.

Transparent, white or your brand color

Keep it transparent for logos on colored slides and websites. Use white for email signatures and documents, or pick any color, such as an exact brand blue.

PNG, JPG or WebP

PNG and WebP keep see-through areas. JPG works for places that don't need transparency, and empty areas get your background color.

Up to 50 files in one go

Add a whole icon set and download it as one ZIP, with each file named after its SVG.

What size will my PNG be?

1x is the width and height stored in the SVG. If the file only has a viewBox, the tool uses the viewBox size. With neither, browsers treat it as 300 × 150 px, and so does this tool. 2x, 3x and 4x multiply that size.

Printing? Sharpness on paper comes from pixels. Multiply the print width in inches by 300, so a 3-inch sticker needs 900 px, and type that under Custom.

If a setting goes past the size limit, the output is scaled down and the file shows a note.

SVG vs PNG: when to convert

An SVG stores shapes as instructions, so it stays sharp at any size and is easy to edit. A PNG stores a fixed grid of pixels. Keep the SVG as your original file and export a PNG when a place won't take vectors.

Convert SVG to PNG when you need to:

  • add a logo to a slide deck, a document or an email signature
  • post a graphic on social media
  • upload an image to a site or app that asks for PNG
  • share a chart or diagram in a chat app, where an SVG shows up as a file instead of a picture

Your files stay on your device

SVG to PNG conversion happens in your browser, with the same engine that shows SVGs on web pages. Your SVG files and the images made from them are not sent to our servers. Client logos and unreleased work never leave your computer.

Want to check? Load this page, turn off your Wi-Fi, and convert a file. It still works.

This is different from our image to SVG converter, which keeps an encrypted backup of the images people add. The SVG to PNG tool keeps no copies.

What converts well, and what to watch for

Works well

  • Logos, icons, illustrations, charts and diagrams
  • Gradients, opacity, masks and filters, drawn by your browser's own SVG engine
  • Images embedded inside the SVG file
  • Text in fonts installed on your computer, or text already turned into outlines

Watch out for

  • Fonts you don't have. Text in a font that isn't installed falls back to a default font. Convert text to outlines (shapes) in your design app before exporting the SVG.
  • Linked files. Images or fonts that the SVG loads from another web address don't appear, because browsers block outside files when drawing an SVG as an image. Embed them in the file instead.
  • Animation. Animated SVGs are saved as a single still image.
  • Other formats. There's no PDF, ICO or EPS output here.
  • Thousands of files. For very large batches, a command-line tool such as Inkscape or rsvg-convert is a better fit.
